What people actually use us for

Not every job is a house move, and a surprising amount of what we do is not.

Single item

One big thing

A sofa bought secondhand, a wardrobe from a relative, a piano that needs to get across town.

One room

Just the one

A student moving out, a lodger moving on, a home office being relocated.

First flat

More than fits in a car

Usually less than people expect, but more than one boot will take.

Part moves

Some now, some later

The bulk going one day and the rest following, or something into storage while the dates sort themselves out.

Collections

Picking something up

From a shop, a warehouse or a marketplace seller, and getting it home in one piece.

Clearing a room

Things not coming with you

Furniture that is not making the move and needs to go somewhere else.

If your job is on that list, it is completely ordinary. If it is not on that list, it is probably still fine, so ask.

Standard jobs, and the ones that are not

We have standard services, and for most jobs one of them is exactly right and the simplest way to book.

This end of the work throws up more exceptions than the rest of it, though. Two addresses. Something collected on the way. An evening rather than a morning. Part now and part in three weeks. A tight window between one set of keys and another.

If your job is one of those, that is a reason to get in touch rather than a reason not to. Tell us what you are moving, where it is going and how much you want to be involved, and we will tell you what can be arranged around it.

The quickest route is the form. Give us the outline, we will call you, and it is usually a two-minute conversation.

Get a price

Tell us what you are moving, where it is going, and how much of it you want to do yourself. If the job is an unusual shape, say so.

When a full removal is the better answer

We would rather tell you this now than take a booking that was never right.

If you are moving a whole house, if there is a lot of furniture that needs taking apart and rebuilding, or if there are stairs at both ends and nobody to help, a full crew will be faster, easier and often better value once the hours are counted.

If you want to think it through properly, we have written it up in detail rather than leaving you to guess:

Read those before you book anything, including with us. A customer who understands the quote is easier for everyone.

What is useful to tell us

The more you say up front, the more accurate the price, and the fewer surprises on the day.

Which floor, at both ends. Whether there is a lift. Where a van can realistically stop. The three or four biggest items. Whether anything needs taking apart. And roughly when it needs doing, including if the date is not fixed yet.

If you are not sure about any of it, say that too. Half the job of the phone call is working out the things people did not know were relevant.

Where we cover

  • Manchester
  • Salford
  • Stockport
  • Bolton
  • Bury
  • Oldham
  • Rochdale
  • Wigan
  • Trafford
  • Tameside

Plus the surrounding towns in Cheshire and Lancashire. We are based at 20 Swan Street in the city centre, so most of Greater Manchester is a short run rather than a journey, and there is no long travel time built into the price before anyone has picked anything up.

There are dedicated pages for man and van in Stockport, Bolton, Oldham and Salford.

Questions people ask

Single items and one-room moves are ordinary work. Describe it and we will price it.

Usually. Odd hours, two pickups, part now and part later, a collection on the way. Tell us the awkward version and we will tell you what is possible.

Send the form with a rough outline and we will tell you honestly on the call. There is also a full comparison in the guides above.

Yes, across Greater Manchester and into Cheshire and Lancashire. Give us both addresses and we will confirm.

Smaller jobs are usually easier to fit in at shorter notice, especially midweek. Ask, even if it is soon.

Tell us how much help you want and we will build the quote around it. That is exactly the sort of thing we settle on the phone.
