If you are buying a new build, read this first
New build completions move. Not always, but often enough that anyone who has bought one will recognise the feeling: a date that was firm in March becomes “end of the month” in May, then slips into June.
That is a problem for a removals booking in a way an ordinary chain is not. A chain delay usually shifts everyone by a few days. A developer handover can move by weeks, and it can move twice.
So tell us at the first conversation that it is a new build. It changes how we hold the date rather than what we charge for it, and it means nobody is surprised when the developer rings.
A few things that genuinely help:
Book on the date you have, not the date you hope for
A booking is easier to move than a slot is to find at short notice.
Say something as soon as the date wobbles
Even before the new one is confirmed. Early warning gives you far more choice.
Keep a plan B in mind
If completion slips past your notice period on the old place, storage bridges the gap and it is cheaper than two moves.
Avoid the last Friday of the month
Developers cluster completions at month end and so does everyone else.
If your date is genuinely unknown, get in touch anyway. We would rather have a rough conversation now than an urgent one later.
Cheadle is three kinds of house in one small place
Which matters more than it sounds when someone is pricing your move.
There are the Victorian streets in the conservation area, the postwar estates, and the newer developments that have gone up around them. A three-bed in one of those is not the same job as a three-bed in another. Hallway widths differ, staircases differ, parking differs, and what fits through a first-floor doorway differs.

Plenty do not fit neatly, though, and those are worth a conversation rather than a compromise. Two addresses. Part of it now and part when the new place is ready. A collection on the way. A completion date that might move twice.
Tell us the awkward version and we will tell you honestly what can be arranged around it. There is usually a way to build the job to match the situation.

It is common and it is worth telling us early. Get a date booked, then keep us posted as it changes. Late notice is what limits the options, not the change itself.
What if I have to be out before the new place is ready?
Storage is the usual answer, and it is normally cheaper than paying for two separate moves. Mention it at quote stage so it is priced as one job.
How much notice do you need?
Thirty days or more where possible. Your price is held for 14 days while the dates settle, and Friday and month-end slots go first.
Do you cover Cheadle Hulme and Gatley?

Can you move us in stages?
