Somebody buys a sofa on Marketplace and then works out it will not go in the car. A wardrobe comes up secondhand two towns away. A shop will deliver, eventually, for a fee, on a weekday when nobody is in.
That is the everyday version of this job and it is completely routine work.
What is useful to tell us:
- What it is, roughly. A three-seater, a double bed, an American fridge.
- Where it is coming from, including whether it is a house, a shop, a warehouse or a storage unit. They have different access and different opening times.
- Whether anyone is there to help at the pickup end. Often there is not, and it changes the job.
- Where it is going, and which floor.
That is usually enough for a price. Two minutes on the form and we can come back to you.
Collections have one complication worth knowing
The pickup end is rarely under your control.
A private seller may only be free at certain times. A shop or warehouse may have a collection window, a loading bay slot, or a requirement that you bring the order number. A storage facility usually has access hours and sometimes a lift that needs booking.
None of it is difficult, but all of it is easier when it is known in advance rather than discovered at the door. So if you have been given any instructions by the seller, pass them on when you book.
If you are not sure what the arrangements are, say that too. It is a normal thing not to know.

Yes. Pass on whatever the seller has told you about collection times or reference numbers when you book.
Can you do two pickups in one trip?
Often, and it is usually cheaper than two bookings. Give us both addresses when you get in touch.
Is there anything you cannot take?
Anything flammable, and plants or animals. Everything else is worth asking about.
How much notice do you need?
Smaller jobs are usually easier to fit in at short notice, especially midweek. Ask even if it is soon.
