Office Removals in Urmston

Covering Urmston, Flixton, Davyhulme, Stretford, Carrington and Partington.

A few things in every office are better carried by hand than loaded into a van.

The office plant

Every office has one, somebody is attached to it, and it does not travel well.

Plants do not belong in a general load. They tip, they leak, they get crushed by things that are heavier than they are, and a van is dark and cold or dark and hot depending on the season.

If it matters to somebody, ask that person to take it in their car. It will survive, and it will be in the new office on day one rather than in a box.

If it is a large one that nobody can lift into a car, say so before the day and we will talk it through rather than assume.

Anything with liquid in it

The other reliable source of a bad morning.

The kitchen is the usual culprit. Open bottles, half-full jars, the milk nobody threw out, and the water cooler bottle that is much heavier than it looks and leaks from a fitting nobody notices until it is on its side.

  • Drain the water cooler and the coffee machine the day before, and empty the fridge properly rather than mostly.
  • Anything in a cupboard that is a liquid should be checked and, if it is not worth taking, dealt with beforehand rather than travelling.

None of it is dramatic. It is simply that liquid finds its way into boxes of paper, and paper is usually what is stacked underneath.

Check whether the safety equipment is yours

Easy to assume and worth confirming.

Fire extinguishers, first aid kits, emergency signage and anything similar are frequently owned by the building rather than by you, and are often on a servicing arrangement attached to the premises.

Have a look before you plan to take them. If they belong to the building they stay, which is one less thing to move. If they are genuinely yours, extinguishers in particular are worth mentioning to us rather than putting in a box with everything else.

Either way, the new address will have its own requirements, so it is not something to solve by transporting the old ones and hoping.

Things that are already broken

Worth a sentence because it saves an argument.

Offices contain furniture with a wobble, a chair with a dodgy mechanism, a cabinet with a drawer that has not run properly for years. Everybody has stopped noticing.

Point those out before the move rather than after it. Either they are worth taking and it is useful to know they are fragile, or the move is a good moment to accept they were never coming.

Questions people ask

Better in a car if at all possible. If they are too big for that, tell us and we will talk it through.

Drain it the day before, bottle included. It is heavier and more prone to leaking than anything else in the kitchen.

Yes, before the move rather than after. It is much easier to note in advance than to discuss afterwards.
