The Handforth new build
Modern developments around Handforth and the Wilmslow fringe. Wide doors and easy stairs, but narrow estate roads and limited visitor parking, so a large vehicle cannot always get near the door without blocking a neighbour.
The barn conversion or country property
Out towards Styal, Mobberley and Mottram St Andrew. The house is only part of the job here. Stables, workshops, garden machinery and outbuildings usually add more than the rooms do.
Driveways, gates and getting the van close
Access matters more here than almost anywhere else we work, and it is rarely about narrow streets. It is about distance, surface and height. The walk from where a lorry can safely stand to your front door is often the single biggest factor in how long your move takes.
- Gravel drives are fine in dry weather and much slower after heavy rain, so the forecast can change how we approach the day
- Electric gates need to be open and stay open, and it helps to know whether a large vehicle can turn inside them or has to reverse out

One day or two
Some houses are simply too large to move well in a single day. Where that is the case we will say so upfront and price it properly, because a rushed move is where damage happens.
When you move
Fridays and the end of the month go first, and the summer holidays go first of all. A midweek date outside those periods costs less and gives you a calmer day.
The easiest savings come from booking early and being honest about the cellar. A quote built on a complete picture is one that still stands on the morning of the move.
Completion day, chains and late keys
A good many moves around Wilmslow involve a chain, and completion day is the part people worry about most. It is worth knowing that the day usually runs to the slowest link in the chain rather than to your own solicitor, and that this is normal rather than a sign something has gone wrong.
