A man and van suits anything smaller than a full household. One bedroom being cleared, a one or two-bedroom flat, a part load going into storage, or a single item that will not fit in a car. If the whole job would fit in one van with a crew of one or two, this is the service you want.
What it is not suited to is a three-bedroom house with a loft and a garage. People sometimes try to save money by booking a small move for a big job, and it almost always costs more in the end because it takes two or three trips and a long day. Student and shared house moves in Bolton

- Sort the door and the parking
If there is a communal entrance, arrange for it to be open. If the street is tight, have a think about where a van can realistically stand. Ten minutes of thought here saves half an hour on the day.
- Keep the essentials with you
Even on a one-room move, keep your charger, keys, paperwork and anything you need that evening in a bag that travels with you rather than in the van.

There is a point where a man and van stops being the cheaper option, and it arrives sooner than most people think. If you have three bedrooms, or two bedrooms plus a loft and a garage, one van will not do it in one trip.
Two or three trips across the same town is a very long day, and if the two addresses are not close together it becomes impractical rather than simply slow. At that point a larger vehicle and a proper crew costs less and finishes hours earlier.
